Pathway is in a continuous search for microorganisms that express beneficial traits to improve crop productivity, plant growth, water quality and industrial applications.

Each bacterial strain is identified using the analysis of nucleotide sequences of the 16s ribosomal DNA gene (16s rDNA). The use of 16S rDNA gene sequences to study bacterial phylogeny and taxonomy is the best-characterized and most consistent genetic marker used, due to its universal presence and conserved nature.
