Position Summary: Pathway is currently seeking an innovative and self-motivated Laboratory Tech II to perform QA/QC tests and to support the R&D core group. This position represents an opportunity to play an important role in a diverse team of researchers, deploying multiple experimental pipelines to discover and develop natural products that will improve agriculture and help to feed a growing world population.

Laboratory Assistant

Core Responsibilities:

  • Process samples from production of microbial inoculants determining viability ad shelf life
  • Assist with the evaluation for growth promotion and biocontrol of bacterial and fungal isolates
  • Implement assays according to high quality standards and contribute to the development of standard methods
  • Help facilitate a clean lab environment, including preparation, cleaning, sanitizing, and sterilizing of glassware.
  • Cleaning, sanitizing, and sterilizing all instrumentation within lab and fermentation operations.
  • Effectively manage tasks and be able to rapidly adjust to changing experimental priorities

What will put you Ahead:

  • BA/BS, preferred in biology, microbiology, chemistry or biotechnology
  • Previous laboratory experience including bacterial culture and cell-based assay techniques is preferred

Laboratory Tech II

Core Responsibilities:

  • Process samples from production of microbial inoculants determining viability and shelf life
  • Assist with the evaluation for biocontrol of bacterial and fungal isolates
  • Isolate, purify, and preserve microorganisms obtained from soil and plants.
  • Assist with characterization of strains based on enzymatic activity and PGPR traits.
  • Support R&D core group in microbial discovery process of candidates for biological control applications.
  • Conduct in vitro plant-bacterial interaction bioassays
  • Prepare samples and formulas for greenhouse evaluation
  • Help facilitate a clean lab environment, including preparation, cleaning, sanitizing, and sterilizing of glassware.
  • Effectively manage tasks and be able to rapidly adjust to changing experimental priorities

What will put you Ahead:

  • BA/BS, in Biology, Microbiology
  • At least 2 years of laboratory experience including bacterial culture and cell-based assay techniques
